About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to support the build of a central data platform for one of Europe’s fastest-growing charging networks working with a Data Lakehouse on Azure Databricks. 

We are looking for an seasoned freelancer to jump in on a 6 month contract to deliver production-quality data pipelines and platform improvements, integrate external APIs, and contribute to our future geospatial  project. 

What You’ll Work On

• Design and build geospatical data models 

• Visualize large data usets using GIS and help upskill the team

• Explore and help select GIS tooling  

• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure allignment for compliance 

• Integrate and process location data 

• Integrate the platform with Google Maps and Apple Maps APIs
  

What We’re Looking For

• You bring a Strong Data Engineering background (+4 years) 

• Proven experience with Databricks and Pyspark 

• Have par-took in complex transformations using Spark SQL 

• Geospatial data engineering - H3, spatial joins, routing data

• REST API integration and experience with AI tools (I.e Claude Code)

Nice-to-Have

• Data Analytics mindset (exploratory data analysis, investigative mindset)

• Azure Data Factory; linked services, triggers, parameter management, environment promotion

• Power BI; semantic model design, incremental refresh from Databricks

• Infrastructure-as-Code for cloud data platforms

• You enjoy taking ownership, are self-directed and comfortable working autonomously in a remote environment

• As well as being a strong communicator, you're able to document well, raise blockers early, and keep stakeholders informed
