We are partnering with a highly innovative, AI-driven technology company operating at the intersection of healthcare, data science, and advanced software engineering. This organisation is developing cutting-edge solutions that are already being used in real-world clinical environments, with a strong focus on improving patient outcomes through data and intelligent systems.

As part of continued growth, they are seeking a Vice President of Engineering to lead a high-performing software engineering function and play a key role in shaping the future of their technology platform. This role requires you onsite in their Hamburg office four days per week.

The Role

This is a senior leadership position responsible for leading a team of software engineers focused on building production-grade systems, including backend services, data pipelines, workflow orchestration, and user-facing applications.

Working closely with senior leadership, you will bring structure, clarity, and direction to the engineering function, while driving the adoption of modern development practices, including AI-assisted and agent-based workflows.

You will also play a key role in the evolution of new products, leveraging emerging technologies to enhance how software is developed and delivered.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 12 software engineers, fostering a strong culture of ownership and collaboration

• Take responsibility for the delivery of key product milestones, ensuring timelines are met with predictable outcomes

• Optimise engineering processes, removing blockers and improving overall efficiency

• Drive continuous improvement across the software development lifecycle

• Support the professional and technical growth of engineers within the team

• Champion the adoption of AI-driven and agent-based development approaches

• Contribute to the development of new products leveraging these emerging workflows

• Act as a key interface between engineering, product, and research functions

• Provide clarity on priorities, technical direction, and team responsibilities

• Maintain a high-performing, motivated team environment without micromanagement

Experience Required

• Proven leadership experience in roles such as VP Engineering, Head of Engineering, CTO, or similar within high-growth technology environments

• Strong understanding of modern software engineering practices and scalable systems

• Experience with, or strong interest in, AI-assisted development and emerging engineering methodologies

• Demonstrated ability to manage complexity and communicate effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders

• Experience working in environments combining product development, engineering, and research is advantageous
